He was hoping for a cure for Crohn’s disease, colitis and irritable bowel syndrome and his research indicated that the diet followed by early man would have a therapeutic effect on these intestinal conditions. His research was confirmed by finding his patients improved quickly without any side effects under the treatment. The Paleo Treatment READ MORE
Being born at the end of WWll and part of the "Boomer" generation, I grew up with copious amounts of spaghetti, pizzas, corn on the cob, burgers from A&W and Burger King along with milkshakes, french fries and cokes as a teenager. I know that dinner tables were commonly loaded with food that would make most nutritionists of today shudder. The staples of the day were sliced white bread, milk with lots of meat and potatoes smothered in gravy. Most people today believe food today is less healthy than in past generations. However, except for one significant difference, the food eaten during the "Happy Days" generation was actually less healthy. Today, consumer protection laws ensure that our food is better inspected, regulated and labeled for nutritional content and contain less harmful amounts of pesticides, insecticides and trans fats. Foods today are basically still prepared and eaten the same way they always have. So, if consumers are generally eating healthier food than past generations, what has changed? Why are people today becoming afraid to eat bread, milk and meat. Why are we being told by health professionals that eating gluten is bad for you or we shouldn't eat too much sugar, salt or charred or processed meats? These foods never made people sick in the past so why are they making consumers sick today?
As a septuagenarian (over 70 years old), I have a unique perspective on today's popular diets. Having lived through the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, I know from experience that simple carbohydrates such as white bread (including the gluten), corn, sugar and candy, soda pop, milk, ice cream, cheese, processed meats such as bacon and all types of fast foods were part of the everyday healthy life before 1996.

Maya Civilization
At the height of it’s glory, 250 A.D., the Maya were the greatest civilization on earth. Originating in the Yucatan of Mesoamerica nearly 4600 years ago they developed astronomy, an impressive calendar system and hieroglyphic writing. They were able to construct gigantic pyramids, palaces and observatories. Their civilization really began when the locals started cultivating corn and using it as their staple food source. Being able to produce surplus corn gave them the energy and the freedom to develop their civilization. Archaeological studies, show the Mayans to be strong, healthy and well nurished with little evidence of disease or chronic illnesses. Unfortunately, the corn that fueled the growth and expansion of the Maya civilization is no longer fit for human consumption. Today GMO corn, contaminated by Glyphosate,  has been scientifically linked to cancer, obesity, intestinal disorders such as ciliac disease, diabetes, kidney and liver failure, infertility and every chronic disease imaginable. Used as animal feed, corn passes on it’s glyphosate poison to the animals that eat it and they also become contaminated by glyphosate. You may wonder how much poisonous glyphosate corn actually contains and how dangerous it really is to people or whether glyphosate in our food is really a problem? It might surprise you to know that the amount of glyphosate in corn is so powerful and deadly that a number of mainstream manufactureres are now marketing a new “organic” hebicide created soley from GMO corn starch.

The shocking truth about how bread changed from “The Staff Of Life" to the Gluten Menace in 20 years Bread in one form or another is beyond question the most basic form of food in practically every human society, past or present, so much so that it is often called "the staff of life."
Although some of today’s foods may not have been around prior to 1996, most of the foods considered unhealthy today, such as corn, wheat and barbecued meat, have traditionally been consumed by humanity for thousands of years.

Have Doctors Been Victimized By Bad Training?
If you have been diagnosed with one of a host of chronic diseases that are running wild today… you can expect little help from a physician or a doctor. Medical doctors today are clueless when it comes to treating these chronic diseases beyond covering up some of the symptoms with a few pills; and most often the pills they prescribe do more harm than good. The reason doctors have dropped the ball on these particular health problems is because doctors are never taught what part food or nutrition play in the health of their patients. Even a five year old understands if you eat poison in your food it gets digested, then it enters your blood stream where it makes you sick and damages your body. To understand why the doctors of today know so little about nutri-tion or natural medicines we only need to look back in time about a hundred years when health care was quite a bit different.

You Really Are What You Eat
Recent dietary research has uncovered 12 different nutrient-dense foods that time and again promote good overall health. Coined “superfoods,” they tend to have fewer calories, higher levels of vitamins and minerals, and disease-fighting antioxidants. Beans (legumes), berries (especial-ly blueberries), broccoli, green tea, nuts (especially walnuts), oranges, pumpkin, salmon. spinach, toma-toes, turkey, can all help stop and even reverse diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, Alzhei-mer’s, and some forms of cancer. And where one might have an effect on a certain part of the body, it can also affect the health of other body functions and performance, since the whole body is connected. With these 12 foods as the base of a balanced, solid diet, weight loss gimmicks and other fly-by-night programs can become a thing of the past in your life. Conversely, the ill-effects of an unbalanced diet are several and varied. Low energy levels, mood swings, tired all the time, weight change, uncomfortable with body are just a few signs that your diet is unbalanced. An unbalanced diet can cause problems with maintenance of body tissues, growth and development, brain and nervous system function, as well as problems with bone and muscle systems. Symptoms of malnutrition include lack of energy, irritability, a weak-ened immune system leading to frequent colds or allergies, and mineral depletion that can trigger a variety of health concerns including anemia. And since the body is connected, realizing that an unhealthy body will result in an unhealthy spirit only makes sense. When we nourish our body with these superfoods and complement them with other nutrient-dense and healthy fresh foods, our spirit will be vitalized and healthy as a direct result. Many modern diets based on prepackaged convenience foods are sorely lacking in many vit-amins and minerals, which can affect our mental capacities as well, and cause irritability, confus-ion, and the feeling of ‘being in a fog’ all the time. Superfoods can be the basis of a sound, healthy and nutritious solution to curing many of these ailments. Did You Know? Pork has high levels of zinc and selenium, both of which help keep your immune system strong. It’s also one of the best sources of B vitamins and contains only a little more total fat than beef. So be sure to include lots of pork entrées in your menu planning. NOTE: use lean cuts or trim off any visible fat because that is where most environmental pollutants, antibiotics and poisons tend to be stored.

How Diet Can Help With Depression And Improve A Person’s Mood Depression can be offset or even eliminated when your diet consists of nutritional and healthy foods. Indeed, certain foods are not just good for you physically; they also enhance your mental and emotional states as well. Popular Consumer Report Uses “Junk” Science The EVIL of Sugar White sugar, or sucrose, is a highly refined and bleac-hed product from sugar cane and sugar beets. Sucrose is glucose that is bonded to fructose in the refining process that makes refined white sugar. This product has gone in and out of favor in the past, and today is mostly out of favor as a cause of disease. The problem is that it is highly addictive because of its sweetness and it is in almost every manufactured food you can buy in the grocery store. Arpad Pusztai, an impeccably qualified scientist, received a grant to develop standard animal feeding trial testing methods to assess possible toxicological effects arising from the GE plant transformation process. The rats fed the GE potatoes in his feeding study developed organ damage, immune defects and other health problems. 1998: THE YEAR BIOTECH LAUNCHED ITS WAR ON SCIENCE It’s a fact of nature that we are biologically designed to move our bodies. Those muscles are there for a reason and if they are not constantly moved (exercised), as nature intended, we become weak and flabby and our life spans are shortened. There can be no doubting that ancient “primal” mankind was healthy and fit and you can be assured that they didn’t use treadmills or elliptical jogging machines -- they got out and walked, ran, jumped climbed trees and carried fire wood. They got their exercise the natural “primal” way by living life and doing their chores manually. Unless you are interested in competitive muscle building, primal fitness does not require money, expensive equipment or long hours of sweat and hard labor. All that is required is the ambition to get up off the couch and move around a bit. However modern scientific techniques and studies now disprove this theory and show it was based on poor science and bad data. The link between sodium intake and cardiovascular disease was first alleged more than 100 years ago and studies from the 1930s and 1940s that suggested a pathogenetic con-nection between salt and high blood pressure. However, it was the flawed results from 1950s rat studies, using sodium intakes 10-20 times recommended for rodents, that were generally accepted and presumed to mirror human conditions. A detailed article in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition explains how current scientific studies show the consumption of sodium chloride has little bearing on blood pressure or hypertension while eating a wholesome diet of fruits and vegetables has a profound effect. "8 glasses of water per day" is only a rule of thumb, not an absolute minimum. Most of the water our bodies re-quire comes directly from the food we eat -- and the rest comes, not only from drinking water, but also from all of the other beverages we drink during the day such as tea, coffee, milk, soft drinks etc.
The   best   general   advice   is   to   rely upon   your   normal   senses.   If   you feel   thirsty,   drink;   if   you   don't   feel thirsty,     don't     drink     unless     you want   to.   The   human   body   already does   a   very   good   job   of   regulating water   balance   on   its   own,   and   you don’t    need    to    force    yourself    to drink   when   you   are   not   thirsty   for fear of being dehydrat ed.

Symptoms   of   malnutrition   include   lack   of   energy,   irritability,   a weakened    immune    system    leading    to    frequent    colds    or allergies,   and   mineral   depletion   that   can   trigger   a   variety   of health concerns including anemia. Many    modern    diets    based    on    prepackaged    convenience foods   are   sorely   lacking   in   many   vitamins   and   minerals,   which can   affect   our   mental   capacities   as   well,   and   cause   irritability, confusion, and the feeling of ‘being in a fog’ all the time.  Superfoods   can   be   the   basis   of   a   sound,   health y,   nutritious solution to curing many of these ail ments.

You    may    or    may    not    be    familiar    with    a    popular    health advocacy    group    EWG    “Environmental    Working    Group”    that publishes   a   yearly   report   called   the   “Dirty   Dozen”.   This   report, popular   on   many   health   oriented   websites,   identifies   a   dozen of    the    most    pesticide    contaminated    fruits    and    vegetables found in data of the USDA’s Pesticide Data Program. EWG    basically    cobbles    the    test    results    from    the    USDA’s Pesticide    Data    Program,    which    samples    the    most    popular fruits    and    vegetables    for    pesticide    residues    and    creates ranking     scores     based     on     six     different     criteria     such     as measuring   the   number   of   different   pesticide   residues   found on   each   product,   the   percentage   of   samples   with   pesticide residues and the total amount of pesticides found etc. The   EWG   group   uses   this   cobbled   data   to   compile   their   “Dirty Dozen”    report    which    is    routinely    used    to    warn    consumers about   eating   these   contaminated   products   and   to   only   buy products from organic sources. A   companion   EWG   report   the   “Clean   Fifteen”   lists   the fruits   and   vegetables   that   have   the   least   amount   of pesticide contamination. These    EWG    reports    continue    to    alarm    consumers,    health advocates     and     the     news     media     each     year     --     creating confusion,    frustration    and    enough    fear    that    many    people refuse to eat these “contaminated” products. There   has   been   push   back   against   the   tactics   used   by   EWG   to produce   their   reports   but   it   is   routinely   overlooked   the   med ia, ignored by health advocates and lost to most consumers.
How Diet Can Help With Depression And Improve A Person’s Mood Depression can be offset or even eliminated when your diet consists of nutritional and healthy foods. Indeed, certain foods are not just good for you physically; they also enhance your mental and emotional states as well. Sucrose is glucose that is bonded to fructose in the refining process that makes refined white sugar. This product has gone in and out of favor in the past, and today is mostly out of favor as a cause of disease. The problem is that it is highly addictive because of its sweet-ness and it is in almost every manufactured food you can buy in the grocery store. Although   the   amount   of   water   required   daily can   vary   widely   from   person   to   person,   based upon     factors     such     as     age      and     physical condition,   activity   and   the   climate.   "8   glasses   of water   per   day"   is   only   a   rule   of   thumb,   not   an absolute minimum. Most   of   the   water   our   bodies   require   comes directly   from   the   food   we   eat   --   and   the   rest comes,   not   only   from   drinking   water,   but   also from   all   of   the   other   beverages   we   drink   during the   day   such   as   tea,      coffee,   milk,   soft   drinks etc. The   best   general   advice   is   to   rely   upon   your own    senses.    If    you    feel    thirsty,    drink;    if    you don't   feel   thirsty,   don't   drink   unless   you   want to.   The   human   body   already   does   a   very   good job   of   regulating   water   balance   on   its   own,   and you   don’t   need   to   force   yourself   to   drink   when you are not thirsty for fear of being dehydrated.

Weight Loss Tip

Whether   you   are   trying   to   lose weight   or   just   improve   you   life style…   just   bear   in   mind,   you are   going   to   have   to   pull   out all   stops   to   attain   your   weight loss   goal.   You   cannot   put   less effort   into   losing   weight   than the    food    manufacturers    put into   getting   you   to   eat   more   of their   CRAP   (Carbohydrate   Rich Artificial   Poison).   This   sounds strange   (and   scary)   but   there is   actually   an   Institute   of   Food Technologists       that       study, amongst     other     things,     how they    can    actually    reprogram the     human     brain     using     a variety     of     " hyperpalatable "   foods. To be successful in any endeavour you cannot underestimate the power of the enemy.
To   understand   why   the   doctors   of   today   know so   little   about   nutrition   or   natural   medicines   we only   need   to   look   back   in   time   about   a   hundred years     when     health     care     was quite     a     bit different.

For   example:   In   the   image,   for the    pesticide    Acetamiprid,    The Mean       (actual)       exposure       is calculated       to       be       0.00389 micrograms    per    day    and    the Reference        dose        of        safe allowable   exposure   is   set   at   100 micrograms per day. By    dividing    the    safe    allowable amount   (100)   by   the   estimated actual   exposure   (0.00389)   it   can be   calculated   that   the   estimated     consumption   amount   is   1/25700 or    25700    times    less    that    the allowable   amount   (or   0.003%   of the safe allowable amount).
Using   these   calculations   it   can   be seen   that   the   actual   pesticide   con- tamination   compared   to   the   safe maximum    exposure    (proven    by scientific     research)     indicates     a large   measure   of   consumer   pro- tection. This   same   data   shows   that   any difference      between      risk      to health        posed    between    con- suming   commercial   or   organic produce is negligible. Of   course   it   can   always   be   argued that     any     amount     of     pesticide contamination   is   too   much,   how-
ever,     the     whole     point     of     this article   is   to   show   that   there   is   a much        greater        health        risk associated    with    not    eating    fruits and   vegetables,   because   of   a   fear of     pesticides,     than     the     threat actually   posed   by      consuming   the pesticides. Therefore   eating   the   “Dirty   Dozen” is     more     nutritionally     beneficial than a dangerous health risk.
As a companion piece; Ninety    percent    of    Americans    occasionally    discard    good    food    because    they mistakenly   think   the   “best   before   date”,   “sell   before   date”   or   “use   by”   dates   on   food containers are an indication of food safety. This is all unnecessary waste! As   far   as   food   safety   goes,   these   dates   are   completely   meaningless.   Such   dates may   indicate   freshness   and   best   quality   but   are   used   more   for   inventory   control and not a reflection of edibility or food safety.
quick    sales    after    the    best-before date has passed. As    smart    consumers    we    should always    be    suspect    of    any    foods that    could    not    be        considered fresh    whole    foods.    However,    if you    do    purchase    any    packaged foods,    no    matter    what    the    “best before     date”     says,     you     should always   be   sure   to   eat   the   food   as soon as possible. Government    bodies    like    the    US Environmental    Protection    Agency and   the   Canadian   Food   Inspection Agency   work   diligently   to   protect consumers.   Of   course   conspiracy buffs   always   question   the   motives     and    effectiveness    of    goverment agencies. But    what    about    lifehacker.com’s website   Why   You   Shouldn’t   Buy Organic     Based     on     the     “Dirty Dozon”      list ,      this      information condemning    EWG’s    tactics    raises some interesting questions. Digging   a   little   deeper,   we   found NCBI      (The     National     Center     for Biotechnology)    a    science    based website    dedicated    to    publishing scientific    research    including    the Journal   of   Toxicology   (JOT)   report Dietary    Exposure    to    Pesticide Residues      from      Commodities Alleged   to   Contain   the   Highest Contamination Levels. This    report    looks    at    the    EWG’s “Dirty   Dozen”   report   and   finds   a number    of    fundamental    flaws    in it’s methodology. The   Journal   of   Toxicology   says   the     EWG   rankings   were   derived   from information    of    the    United    States Department   of   Agriculture   (USDA) Pesticide   Data   Program   (PDP)   and the    US    (FDA)        Pesticide    Program Residue Monitoring program.
According    to    JOT’s    report,    EWG merely    looked    at    the    numbers and   types   of   pesticides   found   to be     used     on     49     of     the     most frequently    consumed    fruits    and vegetables      without      quantifying consumer     risk     exposure     (food consumption or residue levels). Also    missing    from    EWG’s    report was    any    consideration    was    how the   established   exposure   levels   of a     pesticide     were     calculated     or applied. Pesticide     contamination     regula- tions   are   usually   established   using animal   toxicity   studies…   with   the maximum    levels    for    any    human exposure    set    to    be    1000    times less     than,     for     example,     a     dog exposed   to   the   pesticide   for   one year      without      adverse      health effects. For   the   purposes   of   this   study,   the chronic      exposure      limits      were based   on   a   calculated   estimate   of the   amount   of   chemical      a   person could    be    exposed    to    on    a    daily basis    throughout    a    person’s    life- time   that   is   likely   to   be   without   an appreciable risk of harm. In   the   pesticide   exposure   table   for apples    shown   in   the   image   below, the   “Mean   exposure   ( ug/kg/day )”   is the     computer     estimated     daily exposure expected per person. The    “Reference    dose    ( ug/kg/day )” is    the    regulated    maximum    daily dose   a   person   is   allowed   to   con- sum without harm. Some     of     those     tricks     include grinding     old     meat     with     fresher meat,    marinating    old    meat    with sauces   to   mask   the   smell,   cutting mold   off   fruit   and   vegetables   and packaging   them   in   party   trays,   and cutting    cakes    in    half    to    promote
